St. Jude Thaddeus Parish is having a Harvest Dinner on Sunday, October 5 from 11am-3pm at the St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Center. Dinner tickets cost $10 per adult, $5 per child ages 4-11 and children 3 and under are free.

Notice is hereby issued to the public that there is a vacancy on the County Refuse Board. The three year term runs from July 1, 2014 to July 1, 2017. Pursuant to Section 7-1-201(5), MCA, the County Commission "shall post prospective membership vacancies at least one (1) month prior to filling the vacancy." The Commission will accept suggestions for Board membership until October 29, 2014. The appointments to the Refuse Board will be made after that date. Chief Joseph Veteran's Memorial Powwow

Fire Prevention Week
The Havre Fire Department will be having an Open House in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, which is October 5-11. Tours of the Fire Station will be given starting Monday, October 6 through Friday, October 10 from 3-7pm. There will be daily drawings for free smoke detectors and they will be giving items away for the kids that include fire hats, coloring books, bracelets, etc. Refreshments will be served. Child Find
The Bear Paw Cooperative, through your local school district, assists in the provision of special education and related services to children with disabilities. Through a process called Child Find, your local school district accepts referrals, provides evaluation and special education for children ages 3-18 years if they qualify. Fall In Love with Beaver Creek Park
The Friends of Beaver Creek Park present "Fall In Love with Beaver Creek Park" 3rd Annual Fundraiser on Saturday, October 4 at the Eagles Club in Havre. Doors open at 4pm and the Prime Rib dinner begins at 6pm. There will be live music by the Milk River Band and live and silent auctions. The cost is $25 per adult, children 12 and under are free.
Free Early Childhood Screening

Funeral Announcements
James J. Lodge, 55, passed away at a Great Falls hospital following a stroke. Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday, October 1 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Belknap. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 2 at the church. Interment will be in the Pony Hill Cemetery East of Fort Belknap. Condolences for the family may be left at

Family Violence Stops Here 5k Run/Walk

Lego Time is the new after school program, held on Thursdays, at the Havre-Hill County Library and is held from 3:30-5pm.
Hearing Screenings
Hearing Screenings will take place in Bear Paw Cooperative member schools from September 25 through November 7. Children enrolled in Kindergarten and 1st grade, and 9th or 10th grade will be screened. No other children will be screened without parental permission. Notice of Close of Regular Voter Registration
13-2-301, MCA

Notice is hereby given that regular registration for the General Election to held on Tuesday, November 4 will close at 5:00pm on Monday, October 6. If you miss this regular registration deadline, you may still register for the election through the Monday before the election until noon and again from 7am through 8pm on Election Day. You will have to vote absentee and will not be able to vote at the polls. Between noon and 5pm on the day before Election Day, you can complete and submit a voter registration card, but you will need to return to the local election office on Election Day to pick up and vote a ballot.

All active and inactive electors of Hill County, Montana are entitled to vote at said election. Inactive electors may reactivate by appearing at the polling place in order to vote, by requesting an absentee ballot in any election, or by notifying the County Election Administrator in writing of the elector's current residence in the county.

Persons who wish to register and who are not presently registered may do so by requesting a form for registration by mail or by appearing before the County Election Administrator, Hill County Courthouse, 315 4th Street, Havre, MT.

If you have moved, please update your information by filling out a new voter registration card and submitting it to the county election office.

Kidz Express
Kidz Express begins Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30pm at the Havre Christian School located at 4113 9th Street West. They meet the first and third Monday of the month from 6:30pm-8:00pm. There is no cost and there will be games, crafts and songs.

Wednesday Family Nights
The public is invited to Wednesday Family Nights at the First Baptist Church. A free dinner is provided each night from 6:00-6:30pm. From 6:30-7:30 adults watch a DVD on the subject Parenting by Design: Intentional Principles. Kids from 5 through teen will have fun singing, watching skits, and playing games, all while learning about God. Nursery is provided for those under 5. Any questions call Kim at 265-6865.
Recycle Drive and E-Waste Collection
You can recycle cardboard, paper, magazines, junk mail, aluminum, metal, glass, plastic 1's and 2's and e-waste at Pacific Steel and Recyling every 3rd Saturday of each month from 8am-noon. Call Candi at 899-6513 for more information.
Books and Babies
The Havre-Hill County Library hosts Books and Babies on Wednesdays at 10:15am. This program, where they read books written for a very young audience, is intended to nurture early literacy in babies and toddlers. For more information call 265-2123.
Recycle Plastic
You can recycle your plastic 1's and 2's at Walmart every 3rd Saturday of the month. Plastics must be rinsed. Lids may also be recycled, but need to be removed from bottles. Call Candi at 899-6513 for further information about recycling on the Hi-Line.
Hi-Line Chapter of the Montana Association for the Blind

NMHC Childbirth and Parenthood Courses
Northern Montana Health Care is now offering Preparation for Childbirth and Parenthood Courses. Topics covered will include information about normal childbirth, labor coping techniques, comfort measures, relaxation skills and breathing patterns, common labor variations and interventions, breastfeeding, and newborn care. This course is eight hours and offered monthly. The fee for the class is $25 and courses will be held at Northern Montana Hospital.
