HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A fundraiser to support the Back to School Bash, which helps low-income kids get ready for a new school-year, will be held this Saturday at the Eagles Club in Havre.
Event Chair Christy Edmonds says she hopes to raise $3,000 to put on the Back to School Bash, which will be on August 18th this year. They are featuring a pulled pork cook off and it costs $10 to enter the pork.
“We are doing a pulled pork cook off. So, we’ll have people making pulled pork and they’re competing for the best pulled pork in Havre. So, hopefully people will be coming to try the pork for $5. They get a plate of port. We’re going to put the pork on little sliders.”
Edmonds says they partner with Salvation Army for the event, who already gives out backpacks and school supplies to kids.
“The money from this benefit goes to the Back to School Bash and that is a program that we started last year. This is our second year running. But our goal is to help the Havre kids, that are lower income, get back to school with brand new shoes, brand new socks and haircuts.”
The event will start at 4 PM on Saturday. For more information, you can visit their Facebook page under Back to School Bash Benefit.
